Authorizing wife to issue divorce
Dear Brother/Sister. Assalaamu alaykum. I came across some articles in which it says that a man can give the right of divorce to his wife. Does that mean that if a man tells his wife during a fight: if you want to leave, then go, and, on the spot, since the wife is angry, she says, "Yes, I am leaving you," this counts as a divorce? Announcing bigger dowry than one agreed upon in secret
Assalaamu alaykum. The girl's guardian wants me to name a very big dowry. They say, "You do not have to pay it, the wife will forgive it. We just want you to name it for social prestige." My question is, is it permissible to name a huge dowry without having the ability to pay it or without having any wish to pay it? It feels like hypocrisy to me.
